Stupid California Snow

I know I haven’t posted in awhile….busy with the holidays and all. I went back to Los Angeles for Christmas and just finally got back into my day to day routine.

While I was in CA, my brother, his girlfriend and I drove up to Big Bear to do a little snowboarding. On the 2nd run, I caught the wrong edge of my board and took a mild fall. In the process I put my hand out to catch myself and really jammed it bad. When I pulled my glove off the top of my wrist was really swollen and it hurt to move it even a little.

I went to the pharmacy and got an Ace bandage to keep it wrapped for a couple days. My hand swelled up really nicely. But it seemed to be getting better, so I didn’t worry about it much.

Jump to today (a week and a half later)….it still hurts. So I went to the doctor and had it x-rayed. Turns out I did break it my wrist. I just got the call, so I don’t know where or how bad…I’m not even sure yet if I’ll need a cast or just something to immobilize it.

The moral of the story? Stay of the shitty man-made snow in CA. It’s as hard as a rock…..I noticed when I first put my knees down in the snow it was solid. Then I confirmed it with my wrist.

So, who’s up for signing my cast and giving me a sponge bath?

Update: My father called and said the moral of this story is to not wait a week and a half to go see the doctor. I also remembered my other moral….wrist guards!
