First snow of fall 2008! It’s not much but it’s enough to make me think I really need to get my ski pass and tune up the board. And I’m quite happy watching the gas prices fall knowing I’ll be driving to the slopes a lot more this year than last….no broken arm!

First Snow of 2008
Stupid California Snow
I know I haven’t posted in awhile….busy with the holidays and all. I went back to Los Angeles for Christmas and just finally got back into my day to day routine.
While I was in CA, my brother, his girlfriend and I drove up to Big Bear to do a little snowboarding. On the 2nd run, I caught the wrong edge of my board and took a mild fall. In the process I put my hand out to catch myself and really jammed it bad. When I pulled my glove off the top of my wrist was really swollen and it hurt to move it even a little.
I went to the pharmacy and got an Ace bandage to keep it wrapped for a couple days. My hand swelled up really nicely. But it seemed to be getting better, so I didn’t worry about it much.
Jump to today (a week and a half later)….it still hurts. So I went to the doctor and had it x-rayed. Turns out I did break it my wrist. I just got the call, so I don’t know where or how bad…I’m not even sure yet if I’ll need a cast or just something to immobilize it.
The moral of the story? Stay of the shitty man-made snow in CA. It’s as hard as a rock…..I noticed when I first put my knees down in the snow it was solid. Then I confirmed it with my wrist.
So, who’s up for signing my cast and giving me a sponge bath?
Update: My father called and said the moral of this story is to not wait a week and a half to go see the doctor. I also remembered my other moral….wrist guards!
Woo Hoo! Breck is getting good snow.
I so happy that Breckenridge is getting snow. I haven’t goneboarding this season because the snow has been horrible. But they have been getting some much needed snow and should continue through Saturday.
Can you guess who has plans to go boarding on Sunday?
Make sure you check out the webcam on Sunday…I plan to try it out. You can text message me from the Contact Ryan page so I know to turn it on.
2nd snow of the season!
Check out that snow! The weather last night said “some snow flurries with little to no accumulation”. Stupid weather people….=)
I was thinking of going snowboarding today, but I’m sort of glad I didn’t. Driving home would have been an experience. Not to mention there was only one run open at A-Basin and that just didn’t seem like it was worth driving all the way out there.
But Breckenridge opens on the 9th of Nov….woo hoo! And I could always just go board down my street until then….
First snow of the season!
What a wonderful thing to wake up to. I climbed out of bed rather late today, wandered toward the bathroom and an intense white caught my eye outside the window. At first I thought, “Wow, the sun is really bright today.” Then I realized what I was seeing…snow!![]()
As you can see, it wasn’t a lot of snow. But it came down most of the day. I ended up just hanging out at home with my Mom and her husband, John. We watched some TV, had a fire going all day and then I made my Pork Tenderloin alla Napoli (but I did it with pork chops). It was a really nice lazy snowy Sunday…
Woo hoo!
